Basketball Recap: Little Wound Comes Up Short

If Little Wound was feeling good fresh off their 57-37 takedown of Lakota Tech last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Little Wound Mustangs fell 72-64 to the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (57), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Little Wound has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

When Little Wound and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Little Wound will try to stop St. Francis Indian's four-game winning streak when the meet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte will take on Mobridge-Pollock and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
