Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alayna Clark and Emma Farnik Lead Niobrara/Verdigre to Victory

Niobrara/Verdigre proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Boyd County Spartans 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Spartans back in September, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Niobrara/Verdigre wouldn't go down easily and took Boyd County into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 15-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Leading Niobrara/Verdigre to victory were Emma Farnik and Alayna Clark. Farnik had nine digs, while Clark had 23 digs. That's the most digs Farnik has posted over her last nine contests.

When it comes to explaining why Boyd County lost, don't look at Claire Reiman. Despite the final result, she had 27 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Reiman is now averaging an impressive 10 digs per game.

Niobrara/Verdigre has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-15 record this season. As for Boyd County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-16 record this season.

Niobrara/Verdigre will square off against North Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season. Boyd County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
