Softball Recap: Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Beats Wausau East for Their Sixth Straight Win

Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Wausau East Lumberjacks as they made off with a 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Annabelle Ross and Sydney Holberg did most of the damage at the plate: Ross went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Holberg went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs Ross has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Patraw, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Wausau East, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln will square off against Stevens Point at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Red Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wausau East, they are taking a road trip to challenge Antigo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
