Baseball Game Preview: Westlake Thunder vs. Cedar Valley Aviators

For the second straight game, Westlake will face off against Cedar Valley. The Thunder will face off against the Aviators at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Westlake is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Cedar Valley hit Westlake with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Thunder fell just short of the Aviators by a score of 9-8.

Korbyn Sorensen made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Westlake's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 2-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Efrain Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Cedar Valley and bumps their season record up to 7-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Westlake, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
