Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Lake Country Lutheran

Lake Country Lutheran got themselves on the board against St. Francis on Monday, but St. Francis never followed suit. They blew past the Mariners 9-0. The Lightning might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by nine runs or more this season.

St. Francis' batters probably weren't too happy with Jack Poellot, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (he gave up two walks). With that strong performance, Poellot is now averaging an impressive 6.8 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Grant Manthei was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Menzel, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The win (which was Lake Country Lutheran's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for St. Francis, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Lake Country Lutheran has already played their next match, a 12-0 win against Catholic Central on the 24th. As for St. Francis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-0 victory against Milwaukee School of Languages on the 23rd.
