Esperanza took a seven-run  loss the last time they faced off against Cypress, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Esperanza skirted past Cypress  4-2. The  win was a breath of fresh air for the Aztecs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
 Charley Duran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Jenna Gober, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-3.
 Esperanza  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress struck out 11 times.
Esperanza's  victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Cypress, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record  this season.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Esperanza will host Santiago  at 3:00  p.m.  on Friday. Santiago's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8  runs per game  this season, so Esperanza's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cypress, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pacifica  at 3:15  p.m.  on Tuesday.
