Football Recap: Hoover Starts off Right with Win over Escondido

Hoover gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Escondido Cougars 46-18.

Abigail Medina had an outrageously good game as she rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Those 167 rushing yards gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Massah Seelay, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hoover was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Escondido only rushed for 21 rushing yards.

Hoover didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Annabel Medina and Alicia Lara. Lara got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Hoover wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-0 defeat against University City on the 19th. As for Escondido, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-0 loss against Escondido Charter on the 20th.
