Softball Recap: Bear River Takes a Loss

If Bear River was feeling good fresh off their 18-1 takedown of Mira Loma two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins fell just short of the Lincoln Fighting Zebras by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday. The Bruins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fighting Zebras earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

Taryn Cleek was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Martin, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Bear River's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Lincoln, their record now sits at 7-13.

Looking ahead, Bear River will venture away from home to take on Marysville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bruins are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lincoln, they will take on East Union in a tournament on Friday.
