Baseball Recap: Lathrop's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mid-Buchanan, Lathrop was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Lexington Minutemen. The Mules have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Minutemen, too.

Drake Coots made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Coots was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Ace Lanning looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Josh Stone was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Paxton Quarles also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Lathrop was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington only posted a batting average of .222.

Lathrop's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-11. As for Lexington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Lathrop has already played their next contest (against Lafayette County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Lexington, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Carrollton on the 6th.
