Gorham came tearing into Thursday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Thornton Academy Trojans as they made off with a 9-1 victory. Considering the Rams have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Hunter Finck was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since May 1st.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Brenner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Taaffe, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Gorham's record now sits at 13-2-1. As for Thornton Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.

Gorham didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-0 win against Biddeford on the 30th. As for Thornton Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 7-3 loss against South Portland on the 29th.
