Softball Recap: Caston Comes Up Short

Caston fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Lewis Cass on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Kings by a score of 13-12. Even if the Comets couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Ava Russell stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Warner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Caston is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. As for Lewis Cass, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Caston will head out on the road to face off against Culver Community at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lewis Cass, they will host Pioneer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Kings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
