New Paltz waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Marlboro Central Dukes by a score of 5-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in April.

Nash Byrne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Nick Drewnowski was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alex Papaelias, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

New Paltz's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Marlboro Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

New Paltz and Marlboro Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Huguenots (ranked 109th) will meet Beacon (ranked 25th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Marlboro Central will take on Pine Bush at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (306 vs. 147).
