Recap: Central City Bison vs. Ord Chanticleers
Even though the Central City Bison have not done well against the Ord Chanticleers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Central City walked away with a 41-30 victory over Ord. That's another feather in the cap for Central City, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Central City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Buhlke, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Hope Paup was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Ord lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maggie Fischer, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marin Reilly, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Ord smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central City only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Central City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Ord, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
Central City will play host again and welcome Centennial, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Central City is ranked 86th, while Centennial is ranked 103rd). As for Ord, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Paul at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ord is coming into the contest with three straight defeats on the road, meaning St. Paul will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
