Culver City has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hawthorne recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Centaurs will head out to challenge the Cougars at 3:15 p.m. Culver City will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Monday, Culver City got the win against Windward by a conclusive 8-1. Considering the Centaurs have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Niko Weber Smith looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Devin Asamura-Halll, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Blake Carbo, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Hawthorne unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Lennox Academy by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since April 30, 2024.
Santiago Garcia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
Culver City's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hawthorne, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Culver City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Hawthorne struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Culver City's way against Hawthorne in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as Culver City made off with a 16-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Centaurs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
