Basketball Recap: Clemens Skates Past Medina Valley with Ease

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Clemens walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 77-38 win over the Medina Valley Panthers. Given the Buffaloes' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Panthers are ranked 264th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clemens was led to victory by Jayden Arceneaux and Christian Dupree. Arceneaux went 7-for-11 on his way to 19 points along with six boards and five assists, while Dupree went 8-for-12 en route to 17 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Arceneaux a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Jakai Woods, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points and five steals.

Clemens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Clemens is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. Medina Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 23-11.

Looking ahead, Clemens will take on Hanna at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hanna has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Medina Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
