Baseball Recap: Overfelt Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Overfelt won the last time they faced Independence and things went their way on Thursday too. Overfelt blew past Independence 17-2. The Royals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

HUGO JERONIMO was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI and two stolen bases. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, BRIAN BECERRA DADO was a standout: he scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of ADRIAN BARAJAS, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Overfelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Overfelt's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Independence, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
