The Chugiak Mustangs will square off against the Eagle River Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Chugiak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Chugiak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: South Anchorage, who was ranked first at the time (Chugiak was ranked 14th). The Mustangs fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost six in a row.

Chugiak saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Cage, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Eagle River never let their opponents score on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Soldotna.

Eagle River's win bumped their record up to 5-2-1. As for Chugiak, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Chugiak couldn't quite get it done against Eagle River when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
