St. John is ranked highly in their home state and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of The Academy of the Holy Cross. The St. John's Cadets fell just short of The Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans by a score of 3-2. The Cadets' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

St. John's took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 15-11.

Racquel Frazier paced St. John's offense, picking up 15 kills. Frazier got some help from Gabrielle Deutz and her 19 assists. Frazier was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

St. John's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-4. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.

St. John's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Elizabeth Seton on the 29th. The Academy of the Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
