Soccer Game Preview: Community vs. Celina

The Community Braves will face off against the Celina Bobcats at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Community will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Kemp last Monday. Everything went Community's way against Kemp as Community made off with a 10-2 win. Payton Ridenour Annis was a massive factor in the win as she booted in six goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Celina entered their tilt with Midlothian Heritage on Monday with 18 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 19. They were the clear victor by a 5-1 margin over the Jaguars. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Jaguars are ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Celina pushed their record up to 22-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those 14 contests. As for Community, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7-2 record this season.
