Basketball Recap: Anthony Wayne Takes a Loss

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-37, which was the final score in the Anthony Wayne Generals's tilt against the Shawnee Indians on Saturday. The matchup marked the Generals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Anthony Wayne still got an impressive performance from Jackson Urenovitch, who posted ten points. Urenovitch is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Cole Gast was another key player, putting up seven points and four blocks.

Trevick Bertke produced another solid effort shooting 80% from the field to rack up 23 points in addition to seven boards and five steals for Shawnee. Another player making a difference was Ashton Wright, who went 5-for-7 en route to 12 points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Anthony Wayne and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Shawnee, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Anthony Wayne will wrap up 2025 with a road trip to face off against Evergreen at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. Shawnee and Hilliard Bradley will round out the year against one another at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday.
