Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Whitman

Whitman had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Walter Johnson Wildcats. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Sam Clement looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Sammy Angel was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Roman, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Whitman pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Walter Johnson, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

Whitman didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-1 victory against Blair on the 1st. Walter Johnson has also already played their next game (against Gaithersburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
