Baseball Recap: Olive Branch Gets the Win

Olive Branch won the last time they faced South Panola and things went their way on Thursday too. The Conquistadors walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Conquistadors.

The team relied heavily on J.R. Jamison, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Olive Branch's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Darnell Harris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Olive Branch's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for South Panola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Olive Branch will take on Lake Cormorant at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Cormorant has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.47 runs per game on average), something Olive Branch will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Panola, they will welcome Water Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
