Basketball Recap: Caleb Gleason's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Madison over Bishop's

After flying high against Canyon Crest Academy last Thursday, Madison came back down to earth. The Madison Warhawks fell just short of the Bishop's Knights by a score of 57-55 on Friday. The Warhawks were probably out for revenge after losing 71-53 to them when the teams met back in January of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Madison lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Caleb Gleason, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Runnar(Rj) Miller was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to 14 boards and five assists.

Even though they lost, Madison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Bishop's, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Madison is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.5 points per game this season. As for Bishop's, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against San Diego at 8:25 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop's has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 215 points over their last three matchups.
