Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Cedar Hill

Cedar Hill made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Forney, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Cedar Hill blew past Forney 12-0 on Saturday. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Longhorns this season.

Evan Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nathaniel Alvarado and Jaylen Houston did most of the damage at the plate: Alvarado went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Houston scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave Alvarado a new career-high. Izaak Velazquez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Cedar Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Cedar Hill's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of four runs across that stretch. As for Forney, they moved to 9-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Cedar Hill has already played their next matchup, a 15-1 win against Skyline on the 11th. As for Forney, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-1 victory against North Forney on the 11th.
