Volleyball Recap: Sara Johnson and Saris Rengifo Secure Win for Cyprus

While Cyprus's victory against Taylorsville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates had just enough and edged out the Warriors 3-2 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won seven in a row.

Cyprus wouldn't go down easily and took Taylorsville into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 15-9.

Leading Cyprus to victory were Saris Rengifo and Sara Johnson. Rengifo had 27 digs and two aces, while Johnson had 16 digs. Those 16 digs gave Johnson a new career-high.

Cyprus' victory bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Taylorsville, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-19.

Cyprus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against West on the 15th. As for Taylorsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Kearns on the 14th.
