Volleyball Recap: Sutton Comes Up Short at Home Against Adams Central

Sutton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Adams Central Patriots on Thursday. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 25-17 in the first set.

Sutton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-12.

Sutton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Dyvet Fonseca, who had ten digs and one assist.

Adams Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abigail Paradies, who had 21 digs and two aces. Those 21 digs gave Paradies a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peighton Hinton, who had 22 assists and four digs.

Sutton has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Clarkson/Leigh on the 30th. As for Adams Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Twin River on the 30th.
