Basketball Recap: Kate Jorstad's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Manitou Springs over Lamar

Manitou Springs lost against Lamar back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Manitou Springs Mustangs received a blow as they fell 43-28 to the Lamar Thunder. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Manitou Springs lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kate Jorstad, who posted nine points. Aylin Gomez was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Lamar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooklyn Robbins led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Robbins' fifth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Weber, who earned 13 points and seven assists.

Manitou Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Lamar, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manitou Springs will face off against Buena Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lamar, they will take on St. Mary's at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
