Preview: Flagler Panthers vs. Bethune Bobcats
Flagler is on a six-game streak of home losses, Bethune an eight-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Flagler Panthers will take on the Bethune Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
On Tuesday, Flagler was beaten by Stratton 74-37. While losing is never fun, Flagler can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while Stratton is ranked 89th).
Meanwhile, Bethune struggled with assists on Tuesday (Weskan had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bethune had to suffer through a rough 67-22 loss at the hands of Weskan. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bethune in their matchups with Weskan: they've now lost eight in a row.
Ty Morris was Bethune's leading scorer, having posted 11 points.
Angel Herrera held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
Josh Salinas took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Flagler's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Bethune, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
Flagler came out on top in a nail-biter against Bethune when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 33-31. Will Flagler repeat their success, or does Bethune have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
