Baseball Game Preview: Summit Tigers vs. Battle Mountain Huskies

Summit is 8-2 against Battle Mountain since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 3:00 p.m. Summit is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Summit took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Salida an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Summit's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sam Eldredge, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Eldredge a new career-high.

Summit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salida only posted a batting average of .130.

Meanwhile, Battle Mountain lost 11-5 to Coal Ridge on Tuesday.

Summit's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Battle Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Battle Mountain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Summit hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. It's a different story for Battle Mountain, though, as they've only averaged .215. Will they be able to contain Summit's hitters?

Summit beat Battle Mountain 5-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
