Softball Recap: Phoenix Triumphs

While Phoenix didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Mazama Vikings by a score of 14-11 on Friday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Carsyn Sousa was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Keelie Woodside was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Phoenix's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Mazama, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Phoenix will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mazama: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
