Basketball Recap: Wendover Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Wendover needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Raul Valle. The Wendover Wildcats took down the Wayne Badgers 57-43 on Saturday thanks in part to Valle, who posted 28 points and eight rebounds. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2023.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Gonzalez, who put up 15 points and five rebounds. His afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Wayne lost, don't look at Brayden Lee. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. Wayne is 2-1 when Lee posts ten or more rebounds, but 0-3 otherwise. Hunter Robins was another key player, putting up 13 points and eight rebounds.

Wendover's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Wayne, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Panguitch the next time they take the court. Wayne will head out to face Panguitch at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Wendover will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
