Softball Preview: Summit Christian Academy Eagles vs. Knob Noster Panthers
Summit Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against Knob Noster recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Summit Christian Academy Eagles will take on the Knob Noster Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Summit Christian Academy made easy work of St. Michael the Archangel and carried off an 8-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Karli Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). Miller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Macy Batchelder was incredible, going 4-for-4 with four RBI, a run, and a double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Katchen Gillihan, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Summit Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Michael the Archangel only hit five.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Knob Noster, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top against Lafayette County by a score of 6-1 on Thursday.
The victory got Summit Christian Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Knob Noster, their record now sits at 2-4.
Summit Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Knob Noster in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Summit Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
