Volleyball Recap: Upsala Falls to Braham in First Game of Season

Upsala unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Braham Bombers on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-15.

Zoey Leners paced Upsala's offense, picking up eight kills. Leners got some help from Sierra Bense and her 13 assists. Bense also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Emily Ripplinger, racking up two apiece.

Braham's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Upsala will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Pillager at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. After both having extra time off, Braham and Maple Lake will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on September 2.
