Baseball Recap: Rumson-Fair Haven Find Success

Rumson-Fair Haven won the last time they faced Matawan Regional and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bulldogs walked away with a 6-2 win over the Huskies. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Cooper Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Parker Shenman and Brayden Ward did most of the damage at the plate: Shenman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Ward went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those two hits gave Ward a new career-high. Casper Billington was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Rumson-Fair Haven hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.

Rumson-Fair Haven now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for Matawan Regional, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Rumson-Fair Haven will square off against Ocean Township at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Matawan Regional, they will take on Monmouth Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
