Basketball Game Preview: Itasca Wampus Cats vs. Meyer Ravens

The Itasca Wampus Cats will venture away from home to square off against the Meyer Ravens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Itasca is headed into the game having just suffered their closest defeat since January 23, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Crawford by a score of 45-43.

Meanwhile, Meyer entered their tilt with Bosqueville on Friday with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. They took down the Bulldogs 72-55. Given the Ravens' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 606th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meyer pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Itasca, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Itasca came up short against Meyer when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 40-36. Can Itasca avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
