Bre Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Arnold got a massive performance out of Laela Kern, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayley Sexton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Arnold kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clay only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Baker County had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Indians.
Grace Masterson led a balanced Wildcats bullpen and pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Nasia Green was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Keyla Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Baker County pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Arnold, their victory bumped their record up to 18-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arnold hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Baker County struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
