Recap: Gulliver Prep Raiders vs. TERRA Environmental

Even though TERRA Environmental scored an imposing 66 points on Tuesday, the Gulliver Prep Raiders still came out on top. Gulliver Prep snuck past TERRA Environmental with a 70-66 win. For Gulliver Prep, this counts as revenge for the 59-57 defeat TERRA Environmental walked away with the last time they faced one another last Thursday.

Gulliver Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amare Sanders, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. David Flores-John was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.

TERRA Environmental's loss came despite strong showings from Nick Merlo and Jordan Del Rio. Merlo scored 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Del Rio scored 24 points. The match was Del Rio's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ramiro Pando-Tristan, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Gulliver Prep now has a winning record of 4-3. As for TERRA Environmental, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1.

Gulliver Prep is on the road again on Friday and play against Miami Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on December 15th. Miami Country Day knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Gulliver Prep likes a good challenge. As for TERRA Environmental, they will head out on the road to face off against True North Classical Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. True North Classical Academy is on a three-game streak of home wins, TERRA Environmental a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
