Softball Recap: West Mesa Comes Up Short

West Mesa started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Centennial. They came up short against the Hawks on Saturday, falling 16-4. The Mustangs have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Trinity 'Toots' Bazan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava 'Biscuit' Ortiz, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.

West Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Centennial, the win keeps they at an undefeated 5-0.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Centennial beat West Mesa by a score of 21-3 later that day.
