Baseball Recap: Cedar Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Cedar got themselves on the board against Hurricane on Wednesday, but Hurricane never followed suit. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 4-0. This was payback for the Reds, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brent Martin tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 6.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Jacob Boyer was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Cedar is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. Hurricane dropped their record down to 6-5 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cedar beat Hurricane by a score of 4-3 on Friday.
