Basketball Recap: Jones County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mitchell Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jones County). They were the clear victor by a 61-35 margin over the Mitchell Christian Golden Eagles on Monday. The Coyotes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

Jace Nix had an outrageously good game as he dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Dawson Hunt, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points along with six boards and four steals.

Jones County was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win (which was Jones County's third in a row) raised their record to 3-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for Mitchell Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Jones County will square off against Dupree at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Mitchell Christian, they will challenge Crow Creek at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
