Duncanville prepares to host a special TOC 2015-16 ceremony where the girls basketball team will be nationally recognized by MaxPreps.
MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Duncanville (TX) Panthers have officially been named to the 11th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its 10th year honoring girls basketball.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the MaxPreps National Rankings. For basketball, only 20 of the country's best are invited and with over 40,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Panthers ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!

On Saturday, Mar. 5 head coach Cathy Self-Morgan and the Duncanville Pantherettes capped a perfect 39-0 season with an overwhelming 76-42 win over the Dekaney Wildcats for the 2016 UIL Class 6A state title. Sophomore guard Zarielle Green, the game's Most Valuable Player, led the way with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists as the team captured its third state title in the last four years and ninth overall. Their undefeated record is also the fifth in program history with with previous unbeaten seasons in 1989, '90, '97 and 2013.
En route to the Class 6A championship game the team pummeled Carroll (71-26), Flower Mound (47-38), Plano (79-47) and Midland Lee (73-41) in its 25th
UIL state tournament appearance.
There is no doubt that the Pantherettes completely dominated in their state this season. Their smallest margin of victory was nine points and 32 of their wins were by 20 points or more. The final MaxPreps girls basketball rankings will be ran on Monday, Apr. 4 but as of now, Duncanville is ranked No. 2 in the nation, No. 1 in Texas, No. 1 in 6A, No. 1 in Region I and No. 2 in the
