Basketball Game Preview: Hawthorne Cougars vs. Pioneer Titans

The Hawthorne Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Pioneer Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hawthorne will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 30 points on Monday, then bounced right back against Calvary Chapel on Tuesday. The Cougars breezed past the Grizzlies to the tune of 73-16. While the Cougars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

It was another big night for Kyron Blanchette, who posted 25 points. The matchup was his third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bruce Perez, who had 16 points.

Meanwhile, Pioneer strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Rosemead, posting a 74-36 victory. 74 seems to be a good number for the Titans as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Hawthorne's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Pioneer, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
