Carmel and Greenfield-Central are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Greyhounds will face off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Carmel turned things around against Harrison on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Raiders a 3-0 shutout.

Not much got past Emily Smith, who gave up just five hits to keep Harrison off the board.

At the plate, Jayden Kleiner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Golden Bears by a score of 13-8.

The team relied heavily on Savvanna Riall, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leilani Forshey, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Greenfield-Central lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Greenfield-Central's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Carmel, their record now sits at 6-16.

Carmel skirted past Greenfield-Central 11-10 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
