Basketball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Burr Oak Bobcats, falling 57-17. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 70-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Burr Oak, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens will welcome St. Philip Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Burr Oak, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mendon at 7:30 p.m. Mendon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.
