Softball Recap: Lawrence County Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Victory

Lawrence County entered their tilt with Colbert Heights on Friday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

McKinley McCaghren looked comfortable as she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Reagan Smith was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. AB McKay was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lawrence County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive matchups.

Lawrence County pushed their record up to 37-10-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Colbert Heights, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-7.

Lawrence County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-1 victory against Crockett County on the 18th. As for Colbert Heights, they have also already played their next game, a 7-3 defeat against Wilson on the 18th.
