Softball Recap: Enumclaw Comes Up Short

Enumclaw might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Auburn Mountainview who claimed the real prize. The Hornets took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Adelyn Price spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and eight unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lila Schmidt was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Enumclaw and nudges their season record down to 7-4. As for Auburn Mountainview, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Coming up, Enumclaw will head out on the road to square off against White River at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Auburn Mountainview, they will host Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Gators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.14 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
