Basketball Recap: Surry Central Beats Triad Baptist Christian Academy for Their Ninth Straight Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Surry Central). They blew past the Triad Baptist Christian Academy Titans, posting a 70-16 win. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Surry Central's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reese Leonard, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points and five steals. Leonard is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Wall, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 13 points and five steals.

The victory (which was Surry Central's ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points per game. As for Triad Baptist Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-4.

Surry Central and North Wilkes will round out the year against one another at at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
