Softball Recap: Sentinel Takes Down Ranked Flathead

Sentinel faced Flathead in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Spartans were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Braves. Considering the Spartans have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Alyssa Hanninen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Hayden Slater was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Sentinel's record is now 18-3. As for Flathead, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-13.

As of now, neither Sentinel nor the Braves have any future games scheduled.
