Basketball Recap: Watersmeet Comes Up Short

Watersmeet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Baraga Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-43 back in January.

Baraga's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nolan Hendrickson, who posted six points along with 17 boards and three steals.

Watersmeet's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Baraga, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watersmeet will face off against Baraga at 7:30 p.m. on February 20th. As for Baraga, they will challenge Dollar Bay at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
