Preview: Chatfield Chargers vs. Dakota Ridge Eagles
Chatfield and Dakota Ridge are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Chatfield Chargers will be playing at home against the Dakota Ridge Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 19 to 8 on the offensive boards, a fact Chatfield proved on Thursday. Everything went their way against Glenwood Springs as Chatfield made off with a 56-33 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Chatfield.
Among those leading the charge was Audrey Hubbell, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Reed, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Dakota Ridge sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 win over Mesa Ridge on Saturday. The win was just what Dakota Ridge needed coming off of a 51-30 defeat in their prior game.
Dakota Ridge had a senior duo take command as Hannah Galbreath dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds and Maryn Talyat scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Kayce Brace was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 2-0 season records intact.
Chatfield strolled past Dakota Ridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 54-35. Will Chatfield repeat their success, or does Dakota Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
